La Casa Pinta de La Zubia hosts a photographic and audiovisual exhibit on the history of Yajar Choir. This musical group celebrates 20 years of existence. The Zubian choir was founded by Antonio Garcia Garcia Garcia, the parish priest of La Zubia. It has been performing for over two decades under the name of the metropolitan city. It currently has 32 members and is directed by Pedro Antonio Perez Hinojosa.
Nearly all of the members of the group who have been with the group for the past two decades were present at the inauguration. They shared anecdotes, and sang a variety of songs in an emotional afternoon.
Natalia Arregui (City Councilor for Citizen Participation) congratulated Coral Yajar "for these twenty-years of life in which it has become an cultural benchmark in our municipality. It has also participated in solemn masses of Christmas, the patron saint of the City, and in activities organized annually by the City Council, including concerts and other social events>>.
It also organizes the annual 'San Juan Nepomuceno Choral Encounter' and Night of Habaneras, along with sponsorship from the Culture area of La Zubia. The Zubian choir has performed in many iconic spaces such as the Manuel de Falla Auditorium or the Caja Rural de Grannada, San Jeronimo Monastery, San Juan de Dis and Las Angustias Basilicas over the years. She is also regularly invited to the Solemn Novena celebrations.
Puri Lopez, the mayor of La Zubia has expressed his wish that the Yajar Choir continue to enjoy "years of excellent health" and contribute to the growth of choral singing throughout the municipality.
