A-100 blockade is said to have had no effect on the cyclist's care

Three days after her accident in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, the 44-year-old cyclist died in the hospital on Thursday evening. She had previously been declared brain dead. This news was accompanied by harsh criticism of the climate activists of the "last generation", who provoked a traffic jam on Monday with their blockade on the A 100 city motorway. According to the fire brigade, the arrival of a special rescue vehicle was delayed because of this traffic jam.

Now the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" reports, citing an internal note from the fire brigade, that the traffic jam caused by the activists had no effect on the care of the accident victim. The note on "Operation 277 of October 31" reads accordingly: The accident victim, who "was trapped with one leg under the middle tire of the truck upon arrival", was treated on the spot by an emergency doctor.

The doctor had therefore decided not to lift the concrete mixer. The decision is said to have been made regardless of the delay in the arrival of the fire department's special vehicle. This "rescue truck", which could have lifted the concrete mixer, was stuck in a traffic jam.

Instead, the cement mixer should move under its own power, even if this was risky. "Even if other technical options had been available with a rescue vehicle or crane, this was the right approach." According to the assessment of the rescue services, the use of the special vehicle would ultimately not have been medically indicated.

It goes on to say: "Lifting was briefly considered, but it would probably have taken longer as the medical situation worsened," explains the decision of the attending emergency doctor. The three-page note was signed by the medical director of the rescue service in Berlin.

Finally, it is emphasized: "Regarding the question of technical rescue, the emergency doctor made it clear that she would have opted for this method immediately if other technical options were available, such as rescue vehicles or cranes." higher authority, the Berlin Senator for the Interior.
