Louis van Gaal has been sitting on the bench for the last time.
The 67-year-old trænerlegende announced on Monday in the Dutch tv-show VTBL, that he is finished with football.
Thus ends a formidable trænerkarriere, which brought him european big clubs like Ajax, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Van Gaal, won the Champions League with the Amsterdam club in 1995 and led his country to WORLD cup bronze at the finals in 2014. But now it is over.
- I am retired now. I have no ambition to be the technical director or tv expert, said van Gaal on Monday in the popular Dutch fodboldprogram.
Louis van Gaal was sacked by Manchester United in 2016, or otherwise to have won the FA Cup and has since not had a club.
It does not happen. The future belongs to the family and the wife Truus.
She dropped her job 22 years ago and came with me to abroad. I told her that I would stop as a coach, when I was 55, but instead I continued until I was 65.
- She has the right to have a life with me without football, and I can tell that she is very pleased, said van Gaal, who is considered to be one of the best coaches in recent times.
Several Manchester United players have also responded to van Gaals stop with words of praise for the sometimes rather awkward dutchman.
'Thank you for having opened the door for me and trusted me. Enjoy retirement, boss', writes Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, who made his debut for The Red Devils under precisely Louis van Gaal.
