in 1906, founded Lierse SK was in may of this year bankrupt, but soon rose again Lierse Kempenzonen from the ashes. The new clubbestuur cherishes the history, and proves to be particularly entrepreneurial. The latest novelty from the hat conjured: a real club museum, that Saturday, the doors open. International football teams such as FC Barcelona – also have a museum, but in Belgium, no such thing exists really.
“Chairman Luc Van Thillo and I love both of traditieclubs, as Lierse is one of them. And we want that tradition to live on,” says Yorik Torreele, since half a year CEO on the Lisp. “We are further of the opinion that there is in our stadium is also outside the match days more to experience. Soon the idea arose to set up a private museum. Place we had enough, because between our secretariat and the themed cafe were some of the offices are empty. That we have so the past few weeks converted into a permanent exhibition space.”
Lierse called in the help of some supporters/collectors. That people brought in unique exhibits. Such as old shirts, balls, trophies, photos, newspaper clippings, flags of European competitions and even a re-skinned scooter in the Lier colours and with the club logo on. “You stand there to see what we are all each other got. The highs and lows of Lierse to come at the museum nice to offer”, says Yorik Torreele. “On one of the walls was a timeline made when we have the main facts from the history.”
