Two young gang members get life for killing in Mjølnerparken

Two young men have been sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder and an attempted murder that happened as a part of the bandekonflikten in 2017.

the Men, Osama Mohammad Khidhir and Ibrahim Jamil Bader Merei, who is from the gang Loyal to Familia, slated for a killing that took place on a Thursday in november 2017.

the Judgment has fallen on Thursday in The high Court, like the district court chose to sentence the two to life imprisonment.

The two men, who today are 20 and 24 years old, came in the middle of the afternoon drove up on a moped at Mjølnerparken at Nørrebro in Copenhagen.

the Moped were heading towards a car. A man on the moped got off and fired seven shots at the car with a semi-automatic pistol.

In the car sat three people, including Ghassan Ali Hussein, who was hit in the head and in the back. He died a short time after.

another person had occurred to his left arm by a bullet, while a third person managed to escape out of the car without scratches.

In the district court was Osama Mohammad Khidhir and Ibrahim Jamil Bader Merei convicted of attempted murder of both the second and third person. But the high court has not found evidence that they tried to kill the third person.

It is police opinion, that neither the killed Ghassan Ali Hussein and the other two were members of a gang.

The high Court has found that the killing occurred as part of the bandekonflikten. That is why the two men sentenced after penal code section 81a, popularly called bandeparagraffen. It means that the crime triggers a higher penalty.

- You have made a lot of trouble with drabshandlingerne. And so it is as part of a conflict on the narkomarkedet in Copenhagen.

- It is the expression of so cynical actions, the sentence is life imprisonment - even if the convicted person is quite young at 18 and 21 years of age at the time of the crime, said prosecutor Emil Folker from the public Prosecutor in Copenhagen.

In the matter has video surveillance and witnesses, the explanations have been part of the evidence presented.

Emil Folker praise the witnesses who have gone to the police in the case.

- This case had not been solved, if not it was because more than ten locals had contacted the police about the things they saw on the gerningsdagen on some masked assailants, who drove into the Mjølnerparken, says the prosecutor.

He says, moreover, that the witnesses both were questioned in the district court and the court of appeal, and that it was entirely unproblematic.
