The United Federal Assembly has met Stephan Blättler on Wednesday to the new President, and Sylvia Free (both SVP) Vice-President of the Federal criminal court in Bellinzona chosen. Blättler received 185 of 186 valid votes. He replaced Tito Ponti (FDP/TI), which will leave the court by the end of June. Vice-President, Sylvia was elected with 186 of 186 valid votes. You shall assume the office of Giuseppe Muschietti (FDP/TI), which was selected to the Federal court and took his post at the beginning of the year. Blättler and Free were for the period from 1. April to 31. December 2019-elected.
with the election recommendations entrusted Commission's reservations, the two SVP had initially-close to people from the German part of Switzerland in the Organisation of the Federal criminal court to choose, as you wrote in your considerations. With the Lucerne Andrea Blum, a SVP is already representative of the German part of Switzerland in the administrative Commission of the Federal criminal court. This was contrary to the principle of adequate representation.
Ponti and Muschietti, which were replaced with the choice, had been also from the same region (Ticino) and the same party (FDP). However, representatives from other regions and parties would have then had a seat.
The institution is in the meantime, however, three persons have been reduced. Therefore, it is already difficult to ensure an optimal representation of the linguistic regions, the Party affiliation and gender. This one-sided election could only be as a temporary solution accepted. With the exception of the Greens, the groups had assisted in the Commission of the project.
Stephan leaves Born in 1960 and was previously a member of the Board of appeal of the Federal criminal court. Previously, he was a judge at the district court of Bülach. Silvia, Free-Born, in 1957, and was previously a member of the criminal chamber of the Federal criminal court. Prior to that, she served as a judge at the court of cassation of the Canton of Zurich. Both have been admitted to the bar of the Canton of Zurich.

The Parliament also elected with 164 of 164 valid votes Olivier Thormann (FDP/FR) as an ordinary judge in the French language until 2021 in the appeals chamber of the Federal criminal court in Bellinzona. Replace Tito Ponti, respectively, Giuseppe Muschietti in their functions as ordinary judges.
The Parliament has also elected Jörg Zumstein (BE), with 202 of 202 valid votes to 2022, in the Supervisory authority over the office of the attorney General. Party-political criteria play in the selection of candidates for the Supervisory authority has no role. Zumstein replaced Cornel Borbély, who resigned in December 2018.
With the above choice to decide the Federal Assembly, and to all of the recommendations of the judicial Commission. (aru/sda)
