Took away the migraine pain with incredible kitchen-trick

The american woman Elizabeth Hayes from the state of Indiana in the UNITED states discovered by chance, how a very common food-squeezing could heal her 12-hour-long migraine attacks in just a few minutes.

Elizabeth Hayes, however, was not totally healed from migraine-anfaldet. But she claims that approx. 50 percent of the excruciating pain from the headache disappeared.

she claims, at least in a posting on Facebook, which has gone extremely viral and has been shared more than 276.000 times and has scored more than 219.000 comments.

So writes Elizabeth Hayes on Facebook even if the alleged miracle cure:

'This clamp saved my life tonight. I had had migraines for nearly twelve hours and for approx. an hour ago, it was almost unbearable. I had used all the drugs and the tricks, I usually take in use when I have migraines. Then I googled on 'fast relief for migraine', and then popped something up by the name of 'Aculief', says Elizabeth Hayes about the website that presented a so-called acupressure-clamp, which can help to increase blood flow in the body.

Elizabth Hayes continued the lookup as follows:

'I saw on my kitchen table, and saw a clamp you use to close chip bags, and thought that it would be able to do the same. In the course of only a minute I felt a relief of my headache. And in the course of the nearly 20 minutes my migraine pain decreased by approx. 50 percent.'

On the website of the natural pain-relief Aculief should acupressure-clamp used to stimulate the so-called LI 4-point, which is located on the upper side of the hand in the soft piece between the thumb and the index finger. And it was here Elizabeth, with great effect, set the food-the clamp is fixed, so it constantly created a pressure on the LI 4 point. And it helped much to Elizabeth's great surprise. Acupressure is a variant of acupuncture, which utilizes the same theory - and not with needles. But with the pressure on various points on the body either with hands or other things.

the Extra Leaf has contacted specialist Jakob Møller Hansen, from the Neurological Clinic at the copenhagen university hospital Glostrup, who also is director of the National resource center for Headache. We would like him to answer the question of whether the american woman's use of acupressure can help to assuage the pain by migraine:

- Overall, I can say that we don't know anything about it, because we haven't studied it. But when a woman says that she touches on a point after 12 hours of migraine, and the pain becomes subdued, then it's probably true that she has experienced it, says Jakob Møller Hansen, and adds:

- A migraine attack is a long-lasting severe headache that can last from 4-72 hours. And if the pain from a migraine attack stop after 12 hours, it can also be because it is stopped by itself.

- We do not use even acupressure into our treatments, because it is not properly investigated. But we know that a great many patients get acupuncture as a treatment for their migraines. Someone get the treatment their own doctor, while the other goes to the specialists.

And acupuncture, which is akin to acupressure, is, in turn, relatively well explored. It can be preventive and can relieve the pain to some degree.

Acupuncture is, however, not the first we offer, because it's not the most effective. But it helps for someone who f.ex. can not tolerate medications or who just want to try something else.

- We do not use acupuncture in the hospital, because it is too expensive. It is much cheaper to get treatment from medical practitioners. And we does not use acupressure, but we researches eagerly in hovedpinens causes and mechanisms, says Jakob Møller Hansen.

At copenhagen university hospital Glostrup provides, according to Jakob Møller Hansen, first patients a diagnosis:

- So trying to find out if my migraine f.ex. can be caused by stress, poor sleep or other circumstances. And when you've cleared up in it, so when you to the point where you can talk about medical treatment, which is one of the many therapies we use.
