The neo-gothic tower of the Historium on the Market in Bruges there since 1921. Almost one hundred years later, is the small monument, based on the tower of the burghers ' lodge away, accessible for visitors. Once the 145 stairs to be climbed, you will enjoy 35 meters high, made of a unique view over the city roofs. You can see the concert hall and the Sint-Gilliskwartier, and even the wind turbines in Zeebrugge. The lookout of the protected tower, however, is small and not very comfortable. People with claustrophobia or fear of heights, a visit is not recommended. You should also have at least 14 years old to enter, and there can be but eight persons at a time to the top.
“since the opening of the Historium in 2012 we dream of it to be the tower is also accessible,” says manager Christoph Roose. “In 2018 we have started the restoration. The old wooden staircase, and the ladders that we have all that time left, have made place for a new staircase.”
