On 8 January 1989, aircraft of British Midland, with destination Belfast in the problems shortly after take-off at Heathrow. The linkermotor of the Boeing 737 didn't work properly, but the pilots switched by mistake the rechtermotor after they had announced an emergency landing to want to create at the airport of East Midlands (Leicestershire).
after this, the runway only 700 meters away, but it was already too late. The Boeing 737 with 126 passengers on board was flying too low to the rechtermotor again to get it up and crashed on the central reservation of the M1 motorway. The toll was high: 47 people died and 74 people were seriously wounded.
One of those seriously injured was Stephen, a 16-year-old boxing champion who loved punk music. He was so severely damaged that doctors have little hope. Eventually, he was eighteen months long, not with consciousness, and he had then three years of his early life in the hospital spend. He did brain damage and his body was on one side paralyzed.
When he was discharged from the hospital, gave his sister Yvonne up her job in order to permanently take care of him.
