A committee in the british parliament on Monday released a new big report, where the Facebook among other things, referred to as a 'digital gangster'.

The social media Facebook is accused of deliberately breaking rules on competition and privacy in the Uk.

the Report calls for greater control of the giants in social media such as Facebook. The companies should also comply with a code of ethics and should be monitored by an international supervisory authority, sounds it.

It has taken 18 months to prepare the new report on technological companies and disinformation. And Facebook is particularly highlighted in the 108-page report. Among the conclusions is also that Facebook has tried to hide the extent of Russian interference in foreign elections.

Facebook has previously been criticized for how it handled the possible Russian interference in the u.s. presidential election in 2016.

the Chairman of the committee in the british parliament that prepared the report, says it has been difficult to get answers from Facebook.

According to the chairman, Damian Collins, has Facebook 'intentionally tried to thwart our work by providing incomplete, unreliable and sometimes misleading answers to our questions'.

Facebook's chief, Mark Zuckerberg, has three times refused to answer questions at the british committee.

'Companies such as Facebook should not be allowed to behave as 'digital gangsters' on the internet. They behave as if they do not have to comply with the law,' says the report.

A spokesman for Facebook says that it 'shares the committee's concerns about the false news and fair elections'

- We are open for a meaningful monitoring and support the committee's recommendation for a reform of the laws, says the spokesman, Karim Palant.
