The space probe measures the historical quakes

A space probe on the planet Mars has detected what scientists believe is the first 'Mars-quakes' - an earthquake on Mars.

this is The first time ever that one has measured an earthquake on another planet.

the Measurement comes, five months after Nasa's space probe InSight landed on the Mars to make seismological measurements.

According to Nasa's rumfartøjsinstitut in California, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was the quake measured 6. april and corresponded to an earthquake with a calculated size of 2.5.

We have until now collected background noise, but this first event is officially the beginning of a new area of research: Mars seismology, says chief scientist in the space project Bruce Banerdt, in a press release.

the Researchers are now investigating what the cause was for the Mars-quake.

You know already that the quake came from the interior of the planet, and thus it was not caused by for example wind.

Mars-quake resemblance to the many thousands of aftershocks have measured on the Moon.

On Mars and Moon, there are no tectonic plates, as we know from Earth, where the displacement of the plates often is the fault of the earthquake.

instead of seismic activity on Mars and the Moon due to a process carried by the cooling and contractions, which is causing so much stress that the earth's crust cracks.
