Ricardas Puisys worked as a landworker in the town of Wisbech on a farm, where they worshipped leeks, when he disappeared without trace 35-year-old in 2015. In spite of plenty of media coverage, as well as calls for tips from the public, however, it did not for the police to find Ricardas Puisys. The police had therefore suspected that he had been murdered.
the Police, however, was new hope in the case, when there suddenly appeared some selfies of Ricardas up on Facebook in november 2019. Images were on a Facebook page under Ricardas Puissys own name. Here he had 69 friends including family members. The police tried to get in contact with him, however, without success. But finally managed it for the police to find Ricardas the 1. July 2020 in a wooded area outside of Wisbech, where he had lived hidden for five years.
Inspector Rob Hall said the following in the case:
In nearly five years, Ricardas disappearance remained a complete mystery for us. But at the end of June, we were suddenly in some information that led us to his hideaway in the woods, tells Rob Hall.
Police in Cambridgeshire say they have published the case now, because they suspect that Ricardas Puissys have been the victim of a crime, including threats and illegal exploitation of his labor.
- We would first ensure that he could get a so-called 'safeplace', where we can protect him. Just now he gets all the help he needs after having lived in a forest under extremely difficult conditions over the past five years, explains the police in Cambridgeshire.
