The u.s. government on Tuesday carried out the first federal execution in 17 years.
Daniel Lewis Lee of 47 years died Tuesday afternoon Danish time via a lethal injection.
It came to pass, after the Supreme court of the UNITED states earlier Tuesday, had paved the way for the execution. Monday was a federal judge on Monday postponed the execution, which was scheduled to have taken place on the same day.
But the Supreme court stated that the execution was to take place.

Just before he received the injection Tuesday at a federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, he maintained his innocence.
- I did not. I have made many mistakes in my life, but I'm not a murderer. In killing an innocent man, said Daniel Lewis Lee, according to the AP.
the Execution, with the Supreme court judgment paved the way for, is the first made by the federal authorities in the UNITED states in 17 years.
Two further federal executions are scheduled later in the week. A fourth is planned in august, reported news agency AP.
Last year there were 22 executions in the UNITED states. But each time it was a single state, which was responsible for it. The last federal execution took thus place in 2003.

The federal executions were put on hold by former president Barack Obama. This was because there had been a large number of complaints by the us courts, that the executions contrary to the constitution.
The current president, Donald Trump, ordered federal executions resumed, a few months after he had been deployed in 2017.
