Ten years of Tea Party: The grapes of wrath

Too much government, too much regulation: It is up to the followers of the Tea Party in the US, complained ten years ago. And today? The US President has divided the movement.

ten years ago Today protested over a Million supporters of the Tea Party movement in several U.S. cities against the government bailout of large banks, against growing government debt, against the then-President Barack Obama, the many for a "socialist".

One of the early leaders of this conservative protest movement, the former Vice presidential candidate for the Republicans, Sarah Palin. At an event in 2010, Palin announced to the libertarian Credo of the early Tea Party movement: "The government that governs least, governs best."

Sarah Palin was one of the leaders of the Tea Party. 2015 brought to you as a Cabinet member of the government Trump the game.

Trumps proximity to the Tea Party

The Tea Party movement was a collection basin from Libertarian, calling for less government and less regulation, a disgruntled fiscal Conservative, warned of the "expenditure-Juggernaut" Washington and made up of white citizens, who wanted to limit immigration strictly.

early on, Donald Trump appeared as a speaker at Tea Party events and spread the so-called "Birther"lie: Obama is illegally President because he allegedly wasn't born in the United States. In 2011, Trump announced that the Tea Party supporters that he was planning a presidential candidacy, in order to prevent the re-election of President Obama:

"If I run and win, our country will be respected again. With China, OPEC and all of the other Nations, the rip off of our great country, I'm going to handle completely different."

"The force to blow up the Establishment"

Trump did not play in 2012. And Obama was re-elected. In both Congress chambers, many Tea Party Republicans moved in, however, the unwilling, with Obama to cooperate. In the election campaign of 2016, the Tea Party was initially in two minds: Some of them support the libertarian Senator Rand Paul, and others Ted Cruz, but most of them gathered behind the candidates, the Tea Party spokeswoman for Palin championing to blast as "a New, in the power of the Establishment".

Trump reaped the fruits of the wrath of the Tea Party movement. Many members from back then are today convinced Trumpisten. You will be happy that Trump has lowered taxes, regulations, deregulated and immigration aims to limit. But other Tea Party members are appalled by trump's protectionist trade policies and his nationalism. For this group, Matt Kibbe, formerly the head of a think tank of the Tea Party and today Trump critics:

"Donald Trump belongs to the Tea Party has divided into two camps. His policies destroyed the unity of the movement, which formerly had a rigorous political philosophy."

Ten years after its launch, it has become quiet around the Tea Party movement. Hardly anyone in Congress is stirring on the growing national debt in America. While the annual budget deficit has increased as a result of Trumps tax cuts to the record level of almost a trillion dollars.
