The paramilitary group The New IRA takes responsibility for the death of the irish journalist Lyra McKee.
It says the group's leadership in a statement to the irish newspaper The Irish Times.
McKee was killed by gunfire during violent clashes between rioters and police in the northern irish city of Derry in the last week.
- Under our attack against the enemy was Lyra McKee tragically killed when she stood close to the enemy's forces, writes the New IRA in the opinion.
the Group accuses the northern ireland police, or 'the monarchy' forces ' which the police are mentioned, in order to be culpable in the riots.

the Riots in Derry began on Thursday evening when several masked rioters began throwing bottles and stones at the police.
Around midnight, the violence escalated, as there were thrown firebombs, so called molotov cocktails, against several police cars in the Creggan, which is located on the outskirts of Derry.
