When Jacob Fuglsang on Saturday afternoon in lonely majesty crossed the finish line in Como as the 114. the winner of the Lombardy Around, it was after a perfect day in the saddle.

- I have just seen clips from the race and saw that he was not following us after the bridge. I heard that he was cast, but I actually thought that he was still in the race.

- I hope that he is okay. It is not a way you want someone to join in, says Jakob Fuglsang.

Recent news from Belgium is that Remco Evenepoel after the fall was conscious, and that he had pain in his right side. X-rays have revealed that he has suffered a fracture of the pelvis and, therefore, is out the rest of the season after his dramatic crash.
