A granitgrå, lamenterande music after the fall of the iron curtain became synonymous with the label of spiritual minimalism and enjoys a cult following among artists in the seam between pop and classical music.
Therefore, it is both logical and unexpectedly that Beth Gibbons from triphopgruppen Portishead take on this classic hit with lyrics in Polish. Her unskilled voice of the struggle – the sounds inadequate – but that is precisely why the human vulnerable. Krzysztof Penderecki attracts at the same time through a charitable roughness out of the orchestra. So to make a worn out symphony of sorrowful songs both commercially and emotionally relevant again.
