Gunn was in July fired when the old tweets from the director emerged in which he jokes about pedophilia and rape. Disney acted quickly by Gunn to dismiss as a director of the third part of the popular series, because they felt that the comments could not in the #MeToo-era and this is not in line with Disney's family-friendly image.
The decision was generally with a lot of misunderstanding received. Also the cast of ‘Guardians of The Galaxy’ remained behind Gunn, and wrote an open letter to support him. Gunn wrote and directed the first two Guardians movies. That gave Disney 773 and 863 million dollars.
