The Saab 9-3 SportCombi station wagon, which has recently been put up for sale by an Italian dealer, similar to perhaps many other typical family cars - but on closer inspection it is clear that it is much more than that.

Saab, which started out as a knopskud of the aircraft manufacturer of the same name in the 1940's, and quickly developed into a bit of a kultmærke. The Swedish car maker was especially well known for always going its own way and let the form follow function.

One of the last bottlings of this philosophy was 9-3. The model, who now is set to sales in Italy, is a relatively sensible version with a four cylinder diesel engine of 1.9 liters, which provides 130 horsepower. The engine is, however, equipped with a turbocharger, which is one of Saab's most important signaturretter.

Even though Saab was not the first to add a turbocharger to its engines, be attributed to the producer often credited for spreading the technology. The Swedish bilbyggere has thus developed a large part of the technology, still used in the turbocharged engines of today.

In the cabin of the new Saab 9-3 SportCombi will find more, but less essential Saab-characteristics as the ignition lock in the centre console and luftdyserne on the top of the dashboard.

the Story goes not a thing about why the Italian dealer, which in the past have specialized in Saab, has been waiting seven years to sell the car.

According to the media, The Drive, the car is not priced much higher than nyprisen, although the now is a collector's item. The new Saab 9-3 costs so 31.000 euro, which is equivalent to approximately 231.000 euros.
