A statue of yourself is an honor that only a very few people, but Gaston Vanpeteghem may henceforth have in that select club, count. A miniatuurbeeldje of postman Gaston was on Tuesday unveiled in Dominiek Savio and got a nice place in the entrance hall of the castle. It shows Gaston in his glory days as a postman, complete with tricycle. The drawing is from the hand of Koen Vandekindere (52), an artist with a disability. Koen worked for about three months, one day per week in the piece in the clay department of the institute. He based this on a picture of Gaston in his younger years.Requirements to fulfill
There is a special story behind the creation of the image. In 2018 fourth the Dominiek Savio Institute his sixtieth birthday and on that occasion, the provision for people with a disability, the dream factory to pursue. All the inhabitants were last year invited to their heart's desire on a piece of paper.
“Systematically, we have a number of who wish to to fulfil, is the one desire all that haalbaarder than the other. American actors to Gits get there, for example, not in, but a ride in a cabrio and even a hot air balloon ride have been granted. Gaston's dream of a statue of himself. We have not long to ponder,” says director Eric Van Parys.
