Researchers: Your dog is older than you think

How old is your dog converted in lifetime?

so far, one has usually figured it out by multiplying the dog's age by seven.

Now, says a team of american scientists, and you just can't use the way to figure the dog's lifetime out on. For people and dogs grow old certainly not with the same speed. And it doesn't even happen in a straight line.

the Researchers from the University of California San Diego have developed a new formula for how you expect the dog's real age out.

If you use this formula, so it turns out that the dog gets old much faster than you previously thought.

So will a two year old dog not be 14 years old, figured out after the previous rule. It will have a lifetime of about 40 years.

A four year old dog will have a lifetime of just over 50 years. A six-year-old dog will be around the 60 years. A 12-year-old dog is about the 70 years in a lifetime.

- The new way makes more sense, when you think about. A nine months old puppy can get young. For this reason alone, we knew well in advance that the 1:7 model does not provide a proper lifetime, says bioingeniør Trey Ideker to Science alert.

the Formula to count the human and the dog's age, is the first that can be transferred between the two species.

The new study gives researchers hope for the future.

First and foremost, it can provide a better picture of how dogs grow up and aldrer.

But the new hundestudie can also give researchers around the world a better understanding of anti-ageing products.

the Study provides the researchers an insight into the aldringsprocesser for dogs and humans.

Man's best friend can with the new studio also hope that the vets can get a better understanding of the dogs ' aging process and, not least, help to cure sick dogs.

- I have a six-year dog - she runs still with me, but only now I realize that she is not as young as I thought she was, explains bioingeniør Trey Ideker.
