Premier League profile: Who is gay on every team

Homosexuality is as good as absent in the top football, and it is still a theme that is associated with the taboo.

No current players in England's Premier League, or in the best League in Denmark for that matter, has publicly told that they are homo - or bisexual.

All statistics show that among so large a group of men may be homo - and bisexual, but even if there has been put more focus on this area in recent years, no one jumped out publicly.

It is too bad, think Watford striker Troy Deeney, as is sure, there are plenty of homosexual and bisexual in the league.

- There is probably at least one homo - or bisexual at each and every football team. They are there. It is the 100 percent secure, he says to the program the BBC Grounded.

- I think that people who are gay, lesbian, or coming in the environment, fear having to carry a big burden of being the first. If just one pops out, then there will come many more, I think.

- I really believe that if just one jumped out, then there would in the course of a week will be 100 others who said 'me too'. But they do not want to be the face of it, sounds it from Deeney.

The former Norwich and Nottingham Forest striker Justin Fashanu is thus still the only one in the English top football for men, there as the asset has jumped out as a homosexual.

he did in 1990. In 1998 he took his own life after being accused of rape by a 17-year-old boy in the UNITED states.

The former German international Thomas Hitzlsperger, who went on to play for both Aston Villa, West ham and Everton in the Premier League until 2013, has told me that he is gay.

He did, however, not until the year after his retirement. According to Hitzlsperger, he was the first in recent years been aware that he was to men.

Troy Deeney may well understand, it can be difficult to be the first to stand up in public with his sexuality. Conversely, he feels that the society is ready for it.

- I believe that there is now a larger platform than ever to be a gay athlete, says Troy Deeney.
