"the Large outflows of polluted river water threatens the great barrier reef off Australia's northeastern coast. Massive downpour has hit the state of Queensland which has led to the region's rivers overflowed and now for the huge amounts of sludge into the sea. In the satellite imagery to be seen how the yellow-brown sludge colour the water along a long stretch of coastline and out towards the reef is closest to land."
"Researchers frukar that floodwater may contain chemicals from agriculture, which is harmful for the sensitive marine environment in the great barrier reef, reports ABC News."
"– The two things we are most worried about is sediment from erosion in the catchment area which are transported with the rainwater out into the rivers and into the reef, and nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, " says Frederieke Kroon, research leader at the Australian Institute of Marine Science's."
"the Great barrier reef is threatened already by the so-called coral bleaching, which means that the coral loses its color and to the animals in the them die."
