“We are planning to get a new, ‘heavier’ hoogtewerker to purchase with more options and to view purely what the possibilities are of this copy of this supplier,” explains engineer Jan Fragile of the Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV). “The viaduct is the tallest in its kind in Flanders and therefore the ideal place to test. It is certainly not that there is a problem with the viaduct. We want to especially the possibilities for future inspections investigations.”
Through the Sluisstraat was the colossus on the path inserted. “The intention is also to see if we with this unit, that a height of 57 metres, the channel can be ‘spanned’. Then we would renovation or checks at the viaduct in this way you can run instead of on the overpass itself should work-and a lane to be shut down.”
The test was positive already and will now be further evaluated with the view to a possible purchase. “The supplier has been able to show you what they are in advance wanted and the ‘range’ that we wanted to have is there. This is certainly useful material for us,” says Brittle.
