New forureningszone ready: 200 dollars for that run in the centre

40,000 cars, 19.000 vans, 2000 trucks and 700 buses.

So many vehicles will, according to the German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport be affected by the new forureningszone in the centre of London. The zone, which is dubbed Ultra Light-Emission Zone is in force this week, and the hope is that it can reduce the number of polluting cars in the city.

the Midlet, which should scare the old cars away, is a tax on the 12,50 pounds. It is to be paid, regardless of when in the day, driving into town, and it happens between the hours of seven and 18 on weekdays, should be placed on top of an existing tax on 11,50 pound.

It gets the total tax to 24 pounds or over 200 dollars for diesel cars, which do not live up to the Euro 6 standard and petrol cars that do not meet the requirements of the Euro 4-norm. This means in other words that you have to have the scrotum forward, if you drive in a gasoline car from before 2005 or a dieselbil from before 2014.

Running it, however, in an old bus or truck, according to Auto Express, with the whole 100 pounds - roughly 860 pounds for a single trip into the city.

The tough forureningszone have exceptions, however. Is the car, for example, able to run more than 32 kilometers per. gallons of fuel, you do not need to pay the new tax. The same applies if the car has veteran status and is before 1979.

Nor do the residents of the city of London, which already gets a big discount on hverdagsafgiften, need to pay the new tax until October 2021. Auto, Motor und Sport writes that the extended deadline for the residents is created in order to give them time to buy a more environmentally friendly car.

None of these exceptions has, however, met just as much criticism as the decision to exempt London's distinctive black taxis from the new tax. They will typically run on diesel, must be up to 15 years old and stands, according to a press release from the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, for 20 percent of the pollution, as the city's road transport generates.

for The same reason he has introduced a fund to provide 5000 taxi drivers up to 85,000 of dollars in funding to change the old taxi with a new and electrical replacement.

so far, the plan is that the new forureningszone should be extended to cover most of London in 2021.
