On her 53rd decided Nancy a new direction to her life and to give. She worked for years at the construction company of her husband, but found the time to own a coffee shop to open. “At first we thought to a commercial building to rent,” explains Nancy. “But such a building will cost to bake money. When I with my husband together was, we came up with the idea for our living room as a coffee bar. My children are out of the house, so it seemed like a perfect solution. What started as a crazy plan, soon became reality. And the stores: people feel at home in our former living room. The cosy atmosphere ensures that many people here to stay longer than expected.”
From bourdaloue to bardalouea Few years ago, closed last café of Beert the doors. Now there is finally again a pub in the city centre. In the shadow of the Saint-Augustinuskerk was Bardaloue under the baptismal font held. “The name comes from bourdaloue, a famous pear cake from France. I'm in my heart for years lost to Paris and go there regularly in the city. Every time I go to the same pastry to ‘une tarte bourdaloue’ to taste. The owner gave me finally the recipe of bourdaloue. I found it eventually, a suitable name for my coffee shop. All I have it a little distorted: Bardaloue.”
