Ikea is trying new initiatives in Denmark: In 2020, you can rent furniture

in future, When you are looking for a new sofa or a dining table at Ikea, the solution can be to rent instead of buy.

It is the plan of møbelkoncernen, who in 2020 will begin to test the possibility to rent furniture in Denmark.

It tells Markus Ekewald, who is the sales manager for Ikea in Denmark.

- There is a big trend both in the world and Denmark against, consumers want to be able to redecorate the home in a more sustainable way.

- So for us this is about giving customers the opportunity to own furniture in several ways, and we have developed some models to, say, Markus Ekewald.

Earlier in the year took the Ikea hole on the measure in Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Poland, and currently is the group to test various models of how and to whom the measure is directed towards.

It is not completely clear, how the customers in Denmark are going to experience this new approach.

Markus Ekewald tells to Ikea among other things, will try the concept in companies or students who are assessed as obvious customer groups.

the Students are a segment, where the need to lease furniture is large, because they move very often and have a limited economy, so that we see a model for it, says Mark Ekewald.

the Idea of leasing is to borrow furniture, in return for paying a subscription. In return, you can avoid having to pay the entire cost, when, for example, buy a sofa or a desk.

Ikea has five stores in Denmark in Taastrup, Gentofte, Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg.

In the first place will the concept be tested in the two stores around Copenhagen.

According to Markus Ekewald have the concept that hiring the greatest demand in the metropolitan area.

In the long term, however, it is the plan that you can rent furniture in all Ikea stores.
