House in old hangar burned: resident and dog escape

Waregem In the Pontstraat in the Waregemse district of Beveren-Leie is woensdagvoormiddag a house burnt down that was decorated in an old warehouse. The fire was accompanied by a large smoke haze. How the fire originated, is not yet clear. The resident, a sixties, and his dog remained unscathed.

The fire was around 11 a.m. noted. Someone from the neighborhood heard a bang, then the escaped smoke from the roof of the shed. “I was busy with the unloading of Eternitplaten when I suddenly smelled and saw to escape,” says Carlos Hoste (81), which is close to the location of the fire also some pilots in his possession. “Shortly afterwards I heard the sirens of the first fire engines.” The affected warehouse is located in the beginning of the Pontstraat, close to the Kortrijkseweg.
