English, Michelle, 29, is a helicopter pilot on the island of Hawaii

the 23-year-old was Michelle Astergård a flight attendant in order to get closer to the drömyrket – pilot. A couple of years later, she got a tip on a close in Gothenburg, sweden, where they were able to train to be a helicopter pilot.

" It was, in 2017, of which I was in, and then we were, two girls in a class of 14 members in total. You have to fly close to the ground and become one with the machine in a different way.

She described the training as very, very tough, and as a fully trained, it is difficult to get a job.

" Here in the north, there are not a lot of jobs as a helicopter pilot if you are a recent graduate. We don't have the same turistflygningar, which, in hot countries, and I therefore sought abroad. Often, in the united states, you can start as an instructor, and in order to get a visa, I could only choose between two schools, one of which is on the island of Hawaii, " says Michelle.

" There have been some ups and downs with the coronakrisen, but right now I'm only 19 flight hours to go before I'm completely finished. To fly in a helicopter on the island of Hawaii is both difficult and extremely rewarding, " she explains.

" It's a very good way to fly to Hawaii, and it is the worst of the circumstances, to fly in it. This is a nice, warm, and wet, and uneven ground with rocks and other things. There is a lot of fun to fly, and you will be able in a short period of time, " says Michelle Astergård.
