De Gaulle, the war in 1940...the record of our week on Instagram

After a "phoney war", and then the offensive of the Germans on 10 may 1940, it is the defeat of France in June 1940. The sounds of boots echo on the pavement of paris in the late spring. We recalled the sad anniversary of the June 14 1940 when the German troops invaded the capital. Three days later, the new chairman of the Board Philippe Petain announced to the French request for armistice. "It is with a heavy heart that I tell you today that we must cease the fight". The treaty ending hostilities is signed in the forest of Rethondes on June 22, 1940. This is the beginning of the German occupation which is going to upset the everyday life of the French for four long years.
