DN Opinion. Tattoos does not make me worse at work

I did my first tattoo at the age of 16 and did not stop after that. Today, I'm 18 years old and collected eight tattoos. For several years, tattoos have been a part of our world.

The largest part of those years, tattoos were associated with crime, gang violence and prisoners.

Some who would never wear this body art is the members of the royal family. People in high positions would never cover their bodies in ink.

Even the choice to wear this art should not take away the fact that you should get the job based on intelligence and willingness to work. Tattoos are not the same as your willingness to work.

”Consider this...", "don't Forget this...” are common comments when to get a tattoo. I appreciated that people asked me to think an extra time before I did something permanent. But it was a statement that bothered me, I do not consider to have any logic: “don't Do it in a visible place where you will not get the job”.

the flower in the hand or the skull at the neck, indicating that I could not clear myself on the job market? Suggests these tattoos that I been a criminal? That I don't care?

I understand that for many years have associated the tattoos with something negative. But we all have different tastes, interests and ideals, and tattoos are no exception. It is your personal accessory and has a deeper, more thought out idea than what is visible on the skin. A person with tattoos judge no one, they know themselves how it is to have a unique flavor and to do something on their body.

to dare to engage more tattooed. It would show that even they are in trend and dare to have a diversity of people. The year is 2018 and Stockholm is supposed to be one of the world's most tattooed cities. Open arms for us.
