There is much misery now. Everyone knows who follows the news.
the British are planning to leave the EU, the French defiles its triumphal arch, we swedes lack a government, the nationalists are on the rise around the world, the climate crisis is making itself increasingly felt, and the americans have a president who is insane.
Then it is easy to get a little down in the dumps. But at the same time, really so bad is it not.
11 per cent of the world's population in extreme poverty. 50 years ago the figure was 50 per cent.
Rekordfå of us go without jobs and the global unemployment rate is the lowest in 40 years. Many can also expect a further lift in the future, because global growth is believed to tough with 4 per cent next year.
Globalisation will, therefore, more to the part despite president Trumps eager attempt to counter it. And we swedes really have nothing to whine at.
Sweden is the world's fourth best country to live in. We also live happy ever longer and do it with more in your pocket, and next year it will be a little further pension increases and the tax cut.
So, up with the chin – and a happy new year!
