DN Opinion. Motorways would be expensive and technically complex

the Swedish transport administration secures the rail system we have; we brace up, modernizes and builds out. It is the answer to Carl-Åke Utterström, who in their letters to the editor on the DN View, wondering why we aren't betting on the motorways.

There is more trains than ever on the Swedish railways and rail travel increases. Significantly increased funding means that we can now fix up a worn-out plant and gradually get a more robust, stable, and punctual rail.

But it is not enough. The railways need more capacity. Therefore, the Swedish transport administration also commissioned to build the Swedish rail system.

the main lines for high-speed trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg and Malmö, according to the government decision, starting from the endpoints and finalized in the rate at which the economy allows.
