Corona changed everything for the world's best

It was actually good news for the rivals. Dorothea Wierer had come to the conclusion that her career would be set.

She had won two gold and two silver medals at the WORLD championships on homeground in Anterselva in February, so there was literally talking about to stop at the top.

Here shortly before the 1. June, the situation is quite different for the 30-year-old Italian skiskyttedronning.

- In april I thought a lot and relaxed a lot. I decided to try again, and then I must of course listen to my body and motivation. But right now the motivation is really good, she says to Norwegian NRK.

She acknowledges that one of the reasons that she was ready to leave his otherwise beloved sport was the effort she has put in, for example, sponsorpleje, interviews and other activities have been of a purely sporting nature.

- In the spring, I have always been tired after the season. The whole of april last year was that I was always between the two agreements, I did not eat properly. It was always in the car, she says.

- We have many agreements, the federation has agreements, I have sponsors, make up for interviews and photo shoots. It becomes to much, and in addition, there must be trained a lot. One becomes almost like a machine, and there is never time to relax, she says.

Coronapandemien, who has hit Italy hard, however, has turned everything upside down in Dorothea Wierers life. Now she has got the pulse down.

I had not imagined that the spring would degenerate so. In may I had it really good. And I've got much time to think of me.

She will not refuse, to the end date of the site lies in the connection with the winter OLYMPICS in Beijing in 2022.

- You never know. It is a very special year, but yes, I think the last goal will be the OLYMPICS, " she says, and acknowledges that the coronakrisen have taught her much.

- I will follow my exercise program, but I will listen more to the body and do more of what I want, she says.

Dorothea Wierer has retrieved the medals for five of the past six world championships, as she won the OLYMPIC bronze in the mixed relay in both Sochi and Pyeongchang

She was the overall winner of the World Cup in both 2018/19 and 2019/20.
