They are two of the six participants in a pilot project at two hotels – a collaboration between the city of Stockholm and the business community.
" We have an enormous need to recruit, it is our biggest challenge. We need many dishwashers and möblerare, frukostvärdinnor, employees who do easier kallskänksjobb – and for many of our jobs are not Swedish and English is a requirement, " says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg on the hotel chain Nordic Choice.
They move on in the face of different conferences, one day the client wants to have a theater, another to have 20 small tables, it takes a lot of people who move furniture.
– They are not. Chef is bristyrke number one on the Employment lists, we have been in Spain and Italy, and recruited, we can't just sit and wait, " says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg.
It is very clear that it needed a kompetensförflyttning, she believes.
"We know our employees and if we see that someone who does an easier job in the day has the potential to do something more complicated, then we have the opportunity to take in new on the the simple job, young people and newcomers, who may not have all the qualifications from day one," says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg. After nearly four years with breakfast and lunch figured out that I must move on, says Nazmun Nahar. will be ready with their chef on 2 september.
" I like to cook. After nearly four years with breakfast and lunch thinking that I must go on, I was lucky that I got this place, " she says.
Fouad Ahmed have cooked pasta and pizza and made salad at a restaurant at Skanstull in the last four years, but without having a solid job. When the DN hit him at the hotel on the Globe he cuts the pineapple for tomorrow's breakfast.
" I do breakfast, and sometimes I pick it away and do the dishes. Three nights a week I am studying at SFI for the job, " he says.I make breakfast and sometimes I pick it away and do the dishes. Three nights a week I am studying at SFI for the job, " says Fouad Ahmed. Photo: Adam Daver
between the city and the hotel chain looks like this: it identifies the employees that would be able to become chefs, the city sees to it that they get a 42-week yrkesvuxutbildning at the same time that they have left their employment. The city identifies people who need a first job. They become employees of the hotel. They have a subsidy in the form of new start jobs, and the subsidy, use it to pay them.
"We get a rotationskedja and when the subsidized employment ends, so there is a ”real” job, it becomes very sustainable," says Catherine Bexar, director of labour administration.
skills development has been stymied by that it is too costly, says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg.
– Employees have simply not been able to afford to put themselves in the classroom. But now they get to keep half his salary and can work extra during the training, they can afford to invest in themselves, " she says.
One problem she sees for the project is the municipal boundaries.
– You must be a resident of the city of Stockholm, not, for example Nacka, sweden or the island of Värmdö. The truth is that this category of people may not afford to stay in the city of Stockholm, so we could have had a larger pilot project unless the municipality was in the way, " says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg. We could have had a larger pilot project if it was not so that the participants must stay in the city of Stockholm, " says Ann Danish brewer carlsberg, here with Karin Ernlund and Catherine Bexar. plans to extend the project, with more chefs and with the new industries.
" this is one of the collaborations we have. It is similar to remember within the city, within the elderly - and childcare, where we have a huge need of staff, and several industries and companies knocking on the door to be able to do this, " says Catherine Bexar.
In childcare may, for example, those who work in the kitchen to take the step to a nanny, in care of the elderly need nursing assistants. 600 people are employed in the city of Stockholm are involved in the work with kompetensförflyttning.
in Stockholm, sweden is two-pronged, says Katarina Bexar. Total unemployment is quite low but there is a high unemployment among certain groups: those who do not have language, those who do not have any training.
– This is where we need to focus, " she says.
Arbetsmarknadsborgarrådet Karin Ernlund (C) warns that trying to take too big steps initially, then the risk of a failure of the individual.
" We must meet people where they are and make sure that the companies are using when we create our courses. We have a undersköterskeutbildning on the Åsö gymnasium, where all that is with a job. It has a huge value for employers, they know where they can find labor, " she says.
