the Extra Leaf has in recent days received a wide range of inquiries from relatives, staff and residents who are concerned about the quality of care for the elderly.

Some of them you can read in the day, when we put the focus on the readers ' testimonies. We have chosen not to mention names and places, since the testimonies are about the general state of the care of the elderly and not a specific nursing home, or a selected municipality.

in The coming weeks we will focus on concrete cases as a matter of Else from Kongsgården in Aarhus deserve to be kulegravet.

you Have the knowledge about such a case please send an email to 1224@eb.dk or sms/mms to 1224 (alm. rate). We treat the submissions as confidential, when this is desired.

Daughter: The nearest suffering

There are also problems in some genoptræningsafdelinger.

it Has been lame, and has lost its language after, for example, a blood clot in the brain, there are the places we have experienced, absolutely no limits to how miserable and unworthy you may be treated. The patient can't really squeal or complain, without a language! I have experienced it as next of kin to my father, who ended up dying after barely a year of really awful treatment, especially at a genoptræningssted.

It is a hard diet to constantly complain about the wet the bed/diaper, the lack of liquid, lack of rehabilitation, lack of hygiene and just bad treatment when staff at the site, and the municipality was in our case TOTALLY indifferent. Indescribably unhappy and not the least frustrating to see one's nearest like such and completely lose the desire to live.

son-in-law: Claim against claim

My mother-in-law lived at the nursing home, the last year she lived. We complained several critical conditions for plejehjemmets management.

But each time was management's response: It is assertion against assertion. Not something to investigate, or regret.

No, there was none of her staff who made the error. The worst of it was when we visited my mother-in-law after a few days absence, and she seemed dazed. We paged the doctor, who immediately imposed her at the hospital.

She was dehydrated and recovered after some days. Her problem was that she had to have help to the restroom. When she called for help was, for example, the answer: Well you can very well yourself or you have just been to the toilet. To avoid it, drink only very little. Therefore dehydreringen.

Elses grandchild, Charlotte Ahm, is deeply disappointed that the Municipality of Aarhus has done everything to stop the TV2 documentary. And all for a little bit to help her grandmother. Video/editing: Ernst van Norde, Emma Svendsen

Daughter: Everything must dysses down

It was a battle to be the relatives of a dementia: lack of personal care, uklippede nails and torn pantyhose, so she went with bare feet. My mother could not get washed hair, only when the hairdresser came every other month. The staff indicated that they would not be able to contribute to the ’abuse’.

I complained and got help, fine, but then one is not very well received at the nursing home. You were called in for meetings with, among others, områdeledere to close the mouth of the ’difficult’ relatives. Everything must dysses down with the message, ’we are well on the way to good relations’.

There are also good people on the ground, but they are few. We were lucky that my mother was one of them as a contact the last time. She was fantastic, and my mother blossomed. But when the person was sick or on vacation, we were back to - no care.

On the night there was usually someone on duty for 60 residents. It meant that you had to run around to find help, when my mother was dying. That night was the officer in charge of the new relief, which is not at all well-known house - totally unacceptable.

There is a need for a completely different approach to the weak, the demented elderly. We must not give up the fight, we can all risk, to end our days in nursing homes.

His: Unwanted relatives

over the years, my mother-in-law was in the nursing home, I was far and away the most unwanted relatives. It is a God below, that there is no ’went on fire’ in the written complaints, I wrote. Three times in the period was the retirement home of the new leader, and only the last half year of my mother-in-law lives the conditions were acceptable.

It is needed to be cleared up in the sector. My blood pressure rises just at the thought of the things we saw.

Daughter: Denied restroom

Relatives are afraid that complaints will go out of their loved ones at the nursing home.

My father is denied the restroom. A day where he was allowed to get on the wc, he had to wait for help in 45 minutes. It should just be said. he can't use neither arms and legs!!

Community - 8. christmas. 2020 - pm. 10:40 of the Extra Leaf may show the hidden footage from the nursing home

Daughter: Would they even desire it?

When my mother was in the nursing home, were we as relatives also witnessed things that were completely unacceptable. What shocked us the most was that at some stage we discover that all of the jewelry, our mother had, which could be melted on, was stolen from her drawers in her room.

of course We do not know who had committed this wretched act. We know, however, that we said it to one of her contacts. Some months later we found that she had not informed the rest of the staff team about it.

We also have several times missed empathy, and that the staff sat in both the residents 'and relatives' place. If only they would think: ’would I even want that, if I were deeply dependent on others for help’ or ’would I even wish this for my mother?’

his Wife: His buttocks hung in any lint

My husband was after a fall on a luxurious weekend at a nursing home. Because of his injury he needed help in the restroom. He got it quite clearly is not.

Since I have not asked him to take his pants of when I visited him I discovered how he looked when he after three weeks came home. His buttocks hung in the softest of any lint and was without skin.

Buttocks hung in any lint 1 of 2 An older man's buttocks hung in any lint, after he came home from a stay in a nursing home. Private 2 of 2 First after two weeks of care from his wife and a family assistant was the skin fairly normal again. Private

He was completely freed, when he was properly washed and lubricated by our family assistant. After 14 days of intense care, was the skin normal again. I complained of course to the person responsible for the municipality's nursing homes, who regretted. She was clearly shaken, and asked what I intended to do. I threatened with Extra Leaf - most to make her afraid. Now, when I'm upstairs again, regret that I did not do it. But it was also out of respect to my husband, who is not proud of the situation.

I got out of it, that when he after half a year again came to rehabilitation, I had a meeting with all the therapists, and the care this time was ok.
