Astronaut-blister: Called 911 from outer space

most people have experienced to call the wrong number, but have you ever tried to make it from outer space? It has the Dutch astronaut André Kuipers.

In a radio interview with the Nederlandse Omroep Strichting reveals that he by mistake called the us emergency number 911 from The international space station (ISS).

Entered the wrong

60-year-old explains that when you call from space, so will the call go through romsenteret in Huston, Texas.

- First key 9 to make a call to anyone on the globe, so enter 011 for international calls, " he says, according to the Huffington Post.

But when Kuipers forgot to press 0, and instead called 911, went the alarm in Texas. It broke out a panic at the Johnson Space Center, and a group of security personnel were summoned to the room where the call took place, according to the New York Post.

But Kuipers was unaware of the chaos he had caused until the next day.

I made a mistake. The day after I received an e-mail that read: "Called to 911?"

- I was a bit disappointed that they didn't come up to me, haunts him.

the Astronaut tells us that phone calls come through most times, but that delay creates major problems.

sometimes let people in, because they thought that I have not said any thing. Then later I began to talk so fast as I had entered the number, " he says.

Not the only one

the Dutchman is not the only one who has called bugs from outer space.

In 2015, wrote the astronaut Tim Peake in a Twitter message in the aftermath of a phone call.

- I want to apologise for me to the woman I have just called by mistake and said: "Hello, is this planet Earth?"

It was not bølleringing, I called just the wrong number.

During the Peakes Twitter message reveals also the Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti that she has dialled the us emergency number from outer space by mistake.
