Ambassador: Dobbeltdrab suspects were radicalised in a week

The four prime suspect behind the dobbeltdrabet on Danish Louise Vesterager Jespersen and Norwegian Maren Ueland in Morocco were radicalised so quickly that it was not picked up by the moroccan intelligence service.

It says Morocco's ambassador in Norway, Lamia Radi, to Norwegian NRK.

- These people were radicalised in under a week. Brainwashed and used as a bomb. They had to do it here, and they did it. Our job now is not just to arrest them, which was brainwashed, but also the brains behind, says the ambassador.

She stresses that those behind the attack does not necessarily need to reside in Morocco. Therefore, investigated the case internationally.

Lamia Radi says further, that the moroccan intelligence service has foiled 13 militant attack in 2018. However, it is preventive work difficult, because radicalisation is happening so fast, points out the ambassador.

- This terrorist attack was quite different. They (the planners, ed.) radicalised some people, who were not a threat just a few days earlier, she says to NRK.

One of the things which the authorities are currently investigating, according to the ambassador, some of the 15 persons, who are apprehended in the case, has been fighting for the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria.

Terrorforsker Thomas Hegghammer from the Defence Forskningsinstitutt in Norway believe that everything about dobbeltdrabet on the two scandinavian women in Morocco "the impromptu and opportunistic".

- I do not think that this is ordered from the central hold in the ICE. It looks more like an initiative from ICE-wishers in Morocco, he has previously said to NRK.

Although the alleged perpetrators have declared support for ICE, believes the police in Morocco, nor that the leadership of the Islamic State have been involved in the planning of the murders of the two tourists.

In all, 15 people charged in the case. One of them is a swiss man resident in Morocco.

Danish Louise Vesterager Jespersen and her friend Maren Ueland from Norway was killed during a trek in the Atlas mountains in Morocco.

They were found dead 17. december near the village of Imlil.

The moroccan authorities have previously indicated that drabssagen from the Atlas mountains to be considered as terror.
