Heavy rains in the country's south-east have destroyed homes and infrastructure in the provinces of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

"We are concerned and distraught over the increase in number of dead," says lokalpolitikern Sihle Zikalala, KwaZulu-Natal.
