"7-day average falls again for the first time"

150,052 Corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

In the previous week comparison, there is a minus of 13 percent.

The nationwide 7-day incidence is increasing, from 681 to 688.

It increases in eight of the 16 federal states.

The plus is strongest in NRW, where the students have just returned from the autumn holidays.

In contrast, the incidence is falling in four of the five federal states in which the holidays have just started.

In a week-on-week comparison, the nationwide incidence is clearly in the red, and 14 of the 16 federal states can also point to declines, the exceptions being NRW and Thuringia.

The 7-day average of new cases is also down by 13 percent compared to the previous week.

This is the first negative value here since September 12th - and thus basically since the beginning of the autumn wave.

209 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.

The 7-day average of the number of deaths climbs to 130, exceeding the highs recorded at the peak of the summer wave for the first time.

Most recently, the 7-day average on May 17 was as high as it is now, i.e. a good 5 months ago.

47,180 cases aged 60 and over were reported to the RKI yesterday.

The proportion of seniors in the new cases thus reached 31.8 percent.

This is the highest value since January 2021, i.e. since the start of the vaccination campaign.

Targeted protection of vulnerable groups is often demanded or promised. In view of the numbers, it can hardly be said that he is currently succeeding.
