26 new vine varieties identified in Chile

Juan José Ledesma from the Viñas Inéditas-Terroir Sonoro in Chile since 2011 driven a project where you've looked at a number of the older vines planted in the Bio Bio, in southern Chile. Over 120 vine varieties have been identified and 26 brand new, which is not described anywhere.

The new white varieties have been found mainly at the 3 different mark indicating they have been planted there and not mutations of existing vines.

Bodegas Viñas Inedita has vinified a number of the unknown grapes and will next year launch a range of wines at grapes with the names Moscatel Negra, Isabella, San Francisco, Hondarrabi Beltza, Mollar and Iona.
