This week, the Poniente University Hospital held a traditional joint welcome ceremony to welcome the new Resident Inter Specialists (EIR), who will begin their training. There are 23 students in this course, representing 14 specialties. They will be completing a two- to five-year training period. The Poniente University Hospital is one of them. It will be training in Intensive Care Medicine.
The Poniente University Hospital hosted the reception. It was attended by the two managing directors of the Hospital and District, Pedro Acosta and Enriqueta quesada. Maria Jose Gimeno, the head for Training and Teaching, and Maria Luz Galera, the head of studies at the Poniente District Family and Medical Teaching Unit.
Pedro Acosta, the Hospital's CEO, highlighted the Hospital’s commitment to teaching during the event. This has enabled us to successfully complete the Ministry of Health's rigorous accreditation processes for nearly fifteen specialties. They are now included in this year's novelty Intensive Medicine>>.
In this context, Precisely Acosta emphasized that the University Hospital of Poniente was "the first Andalusia regional hospital to be accredited to train intensivists." This is a huge pride for us.
Enriqueta Quesada was the Distrito Poniente director. She encouraged residents to make the most of their residency. They should learn as much from their tutors as well as from the professionals from the Hospital. Residents will also benefit from a training environment where close treatment is possible.
Antonio Cardenas (a physician at the Hospital's Intensive Care Unit) gave a presentation during the day in which he discussed the work of the center in teaching matters. This has allowed residents to be trained in 14 specialties with the support of Ministry of Health.
Thus, over the next few years, professionals in Clinical Analysis, Digestive System, Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Family and Community Nursing, Obstetric-Gynecological Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Hospital Pharmacy, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Internal Medicine will carry out their residency at the hospital. Intensive Medicine and Occupational Medicine, Family Medicine and Community Medicines, Psychiatry, and Radiodiagnosis.
