The 7-day moving average rises to 171, the highest since early November.
However, there is hope that this increase will not last.
The number of new infections is tending to decrease.
The RKI recorded 20,922 cases yesterday, 36 percent fewer than a week earlier.
The nationwide 7-day incidence therefore continues to fall, from 175 to 163.
It's hitting its lowest level since November 4, 2021 - a 14-month low.
The incidence is falling today in 15 of the 16 federal states, the exception being Rhineland-Palatinate.
In a week-on-week comparison, 12 of the 16 countries are down.
The decline in the number of cases is also reflected in the intensive care units.
The number of Covid 19 patients treated in intensive care is currently not increasing, for the first time since the beginning of December it has been below the previous week’s level for two days.
