The former Interpol chief Meng Hongwei has to be known at the beginning of his process in China, the corruption is guilty. Meng admitted during the hearing to have 2.1 million dollars (about 2.09 million Swiss francs) in bribes, said the competent court in the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin on Thursday in the Chinese short message service Weibo.
The former Chinese Vice-Minister of public security Meng had shown in court, "repentance", it said. The judgment against him will be proclaimed at a later time, wrote the court.
Meng Hongwei was gone in September of 2018, during a visit to China. He previously lived in Lyon, at the headquarters of the international police authority in France. Later, the Chinese authorities stated that he had been accused of corruption and of his Post at the head of Interpol has resigned.
Also from the Communist party, he was excluded. The allegations relate to Meng's time as head of the marine police and as a Deputy Minister of public security in China.
A "classic crime"
