Kristofer Ahlström: Why publish opinions about a fact?

a month ago klimatskolkade young people the world over in protest against the adult world's inability to address the climate cataclysm. The same day fit SVT Opinion Live on to publish two debaters who claim that global warming is overestimated. Fiber may the debaters, on a tax-funded platform, to say that most climate scientists ”agree that global average temperature, according to measurements via satellites, have not been increased in the last 15 years.”

Perhaps it is telling that the text published on the opinionsplats with the note though ”the Opinions in the post are debattörernas own”. The only question is why one should publish opinions on a fact, like climate change.

One need not go further than Nasa to read the opposite of the debaters claim: 18 of the 19 warmest measured years on earth have occurred since 2001. The year 2016 is the warmest measured since the surveys began. The average global temperature in the period 2005-2014 is between 2 and 2.5 degrees above normal.

it was time again for more false balance. Expressen published an article about the mysterious light phenomena, caused by Nasa's rockets. Expressen writes clearly that it depends on Nasa. Anyway, balansens sake, take the opportunity to quote a ufo hobbyist that may contradict Nasa with his own explanation: ”this is not the typical alienbesöket to a base under the soil, but this is a significant delegation in which representatives have high positions in their culture”.

The false balance dumps often over in pure follies. And so can the conspiracy theories get spread and mount.
