U.S. President Donald Trump wants to impose despite a next Saturday the expiration period for the time being, no punitive tariffs on car imports. This is the news Agency AFP learned on Wednesday from industry circles. Trump wants to wait up to six more months with his decision and the course of the trade talks with the EU.
The U.S. law gives the President the opportunity to delay its decision on the tariffs for calls in progress up to 180 days. At a Meeting in the White house on Tuesday, the line had been confirmed to make use of this additional time to use, reported the US news Agency Bloomberg. Trump has threatened punitive tariffs of 25 percent on imported European cars. This would especially make the German manufacturer hard.
The US Department of Commerce had made, in the order Trumps a report as to whether the Auto-imports posed a threat to the national security of the United States. The report the Ministry submitted to the President in February. He has not yet been released, but according to information from industry circles in February, the report concluded that a security threat posed by the imports.
Since the submission of the report to the President a 60-day period for trump's decision, which expires this Saturday to be running. The law grants after the expiration of this period, however, a further period of 180 days to enter into negotiations with foreign governments for a solution. (step/AFP)
