Was cyklingens big star: Now he will dopingkarantæne

Exactly as the Danish stortalent Mattias Skjelmose, claiming themselves felled in a doping because of a contaminated food supplement, is the former Astana-stjernerytter Janez Brajkovic now been awarded the ten-month quarantine for the intake of methylhexanamin.

As Skjelmose claims Brajkovic, the performance-enhancing drug is derived from a supplements, but he has not been able to demonstrate that it actually is the case. Therefore, the international cykleunion, the UCI, offered a settlement, which saves Brajkovic for a lengthy, costly disciplinary proceedings, but, in turn, precludes him in ten months.

On his personal blog reveals Brajkovic case and let it be understood that this low point in his long career is merely the latest of numerous disappointments. He explains that he has been bullied, ostracised, panned by the smugglers, threatened with firing and even tried choked a teammate during a Tour de France.

’It is ironic that these consequences never was due to my fight for myself. I just tried always to help others’, writes Brajkovic, who has not responded to the Extra's question about an in-depth comment.

Brajkovic tells on his blog that he suspended himself, when in July he was made aware that he is in april had delivered a positive test. Psychologically he was totally destroyed, he writes, and he thought that it was really to get everything resolved before he once again asked to start in a race.

his Career has seen several seasons of both Discovery, Radioshack and Astana. He has been running the Tour de France, which was both Lance Armstrong and Jakob Fuglsang.

After three seasons at Astana changed Brajkovic to proteamet United Health Care, before he in 2017 got a prelim last season on the World Tour, as he was brought to Bahrain Merida. Last year had the now 35-year-old rider take a dive down on the kontinentalniveau at the slovenian Adria Mobil team, and he is now without a team.

the Career, through he has used the same supplements, but before the 2018 season, he added a product, which would help him to weight loss, he says on his blog. He checked carefully that all the ingredients were allowed, he stresses. Since the positive test was a reality, it was him soon clear that the manufacturer of the dietary supplement is known for in other products that have used methylhexanamin.

He was not, however, able to prove that the illegal substance in his urine came from the supplements he had taken, and he was going to have to accept the UCI's settlement.

’I had no more energy and no more money to fight against. Sometimes we all have dark thoughts. However, I am not alone. I have my family and a few friends. All the others have turned me back’, writes Brajkovic, who promises that he will later tell more about his case.

’I will not blame you if you hate me or understand me’, he writes on his blog.

Brajkovic's biggest achievement in a professional career that began in 2005, is a victory in the Critérium du Dauphiné in 2010. A victory that got people to point at him as the sport's next big name. Brajkovic has never lived up to the performance.
