More men are exposed to sexual harassment

More men are being subjected to sexual harassment on the job.

It shows the latest national poll from The National Research centre for the Working environment (NFA). One of rundspørgens over 100 questions is whether, within the past 12 months have been subjected to sexual harassment.

From 2012-2018 there has been a marked increase in the proportion of men who answer yes to the question.

Concrete is the increase greatest among younger men aged 18-24 years.

According to the DR had an out of the 70 men have been subjected to sexual harassment in 2012. In 2018, it was increased to one out of 20.

the NFA showdown is not the total number, but the study's figures are the national wide and is based on responses from at least 30 000 danes.

the Study shows that the social assistants are one of the five groups who most often experience sexual harassment in the workplace.

the DR has spoken with Charlotte Bredal, arbejdsmiljøkonsulent of the FOA, the trade union, which organises social and assistants.

She says to the DR, the real number of sexual harassment against men may be even greater than it appears from the study, since it is taboo for a man to complain of sexual advances.

- If you, as a man says that you have been subjected to sexual harassment, then you run the risk of being ridiculed, because there is a stereotype that men are always interested in sex.

- Then the men get told they should just be happy for the attention, she says to DR.

The National Research centre for the Working environment have completed the survey "work Environment and Health in Denmark" every other year since 2012.

the Questionnaire has each time been sent to at least 50,000 people, and that has all the years been a response rate of at least 50 percent. In 2018 was the response rate 60 percent.

To use the register data to compensate for any imbalances in the number of responses from various industries and working groups.
