Andrew McCabe, former FBI director, would not rule out that president Donald Trump is working on behalf of the Russian government. It says McCabe for the american tv station CNN.

- I think it is possible. This is why we began our investigation, " says Andrew McCabe, when he is being interviewed in connection with his book 'the Threat: How the FBI protects America in a time of Terror and the Trump'.

Andrew McCabe was appointed acting director of the us federal bureau of investigation, James Comey was fired by the president in may 2017.

McCabe believes that the 'illegality can be committed' , as Trump fired James Comey and publicly tried to undermine the investigation into his campaign's connections to Russia.

After the dismissal of Comey appointed the ministry of Justice Robert Mueller - also a former FBI-director - to carry out the investigation. Müller's report is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.

It has since been documented in court documents and in the press, that the persons of Donald Trumps inner circle had over 100 contacts with Russia during the election campaign in 2016.

Six campaigners - including a kampagnechef and a security adviser - has since been charged with or convicted of having lied on these contacts.

In august 2016, the us intelligence that Russia was trying to influence the us election through social media and hacking of the e-mail accounts and databases belonging to The Democratic Party, where Hillary Clinton was a presidential candidate.

Andrew McCabe says to the tv program '60 Minutes' that the FBI in the wake of the firing of James Comey had 'good reason' to open a kontraspionagesag to investigate whether Trump was in cahoots with Russia and was a danger to national security.

- If the president is trying to prevent the law enforcement agencies in their work, firing the director of the FBI to influence or close our investigation of Russia's harmful activities, then you have to ask yourself as an investigator: Why would the us president do it? says McCabe.

- All these facts prompted us to consider whether there was an improper relationship, a connection between this president and our most feared enemy, the Russia's government.

Andrew McCabe was fired in march 2018 in connection with a lækageundersøgelse. McCabe believes that the firing had another reason.

- I think I was fired because I began an investigation of the u.s. president, he says to '60 Minutes'.

After the interview, Trump responded with anger on his Twitter profile.

'Skandaliseret acting FBI director Andrew McCabe seems as if he is a 'poor little angel', when in reality he was a big part of the Crooked Hillary, the Scandal & the Russian Scam – a puppet of the Leakin' James Comey, writes the president.

Five other revelations

Andrew McCabe stresses in the interview with '60 Minutes' that the decision to investigate president Donald Trump was difficult.

It was extraordinary step. We took them only after careful consideration, says Andrew McCabe, who also shared his reflections with the eight members of a bipartisan efterretningsgruppe in Congress.

- In the process there was no resistance. The leadership in Congress was not disagree, he claims.

Andrew McCabe tells that it was discussed in the ministry of Justice, whether one could use a clause in the u.s. constitution, which gives government ministers the law to set aside a sitting president.

Both Trump and others have called this discussion of a 'coup'. It rejects McCabe.

- Because the president or højrefløjsmedierne or Sean Hannity (Fox News-the host, red.) using this word, it is not true. We know that many of the words, as all three are using is fake and which I have experienced on the own body – defamatory, he says.

McCabe says, that there are examples of that president Trump ignores the information from its own intelligence service. He thinks, apparently more on the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

It was clear in the context of a briefing on North korea's missile programme. Here rejected Trump the intelligence warning that North korea's missiles worked. Putin had earlier told him the opposite.

- I believe in Putin, said Trump supposedly to his counselors.

Andrew McCabe says, that president Trump began the interview with a five minutes long enetale on his election result in the state of North Carolina.

- He is a smashing communicator. He speaks quickly. He jumps from topic to topic, and some times he is stuck in a thought, which he repeats again and again. He sits behind his desk, but leans forward with his hands facing you. It is very difficult to get a word introduced. I thought that a job interview was a dialogue, but it was not, it turned out.

In march 2018 was Andrew McCabe fired from the FBI just two days before, he as a 50-year-old would only retire with a full pension. The dismissal was triggered by an internal investigation, which concluded that McCabe had leaked information to the press.

- the President has a well known habit of attacking people who say something he doesn't like. He tries to destroy people's credibility, so others will not listen to them or believe what they say. So it's really no surprise that he also has done such to me. I probably should have seen it coming, he says.
