British ikonbil moving to Slovakia

One of the most well-known and reputable symbols of the british automotive industry will no longer be built in the country.

Land Rover has decided that the new generation of the Defender instead must be produced at a new factory in Slovakia. It writes nyhedsbureaet Reuters.

Bilmodellen that, unlike most of the rest of us have managed to go over the age of 70 without major changes in its appearance, has always been known to be able to continue when many other cars had to give up.

It was for many years the backbone of the Land Rover and achieved for the last almost iconic status. In 2016, stopped production, however, at the factory in Solihull, where it had been built since the early beginnings in 1948.

When the Land Rover later in the year, launches the new generation of the Defender, it becomes according to Reuters, the second of the brand's models, which rolls out from a newly opened factory in Slovakia. Also the production of Discovery firehjulstrækkeren was in the fall moved here.
